Getting on and off the bus

Bus stops may have a shelter, a bench, or just a bus stop sign that may look like this:

At the front of every bus overhead display will show the route name and number or you may see a sign “Not in service” which means that the driver may be on break or is travelling to the next scheduled route.
On the bus:

While on the bus please behave appropriately as we want a safe comfortable and efficient ride

Be safe, let others in need sit, use space appropriately, be kind, keep the bus clean take your garbage with you
Safety:

When the bus is in motion please hold on to bus straps and make sure to hold onto kids, strollers, and any other parcels

If you feel unsteady please find an available seat
End of your trip:

Please ring the buzzer in advance so the driver may safely pullover

To safely get off the bus please use the handrails located on both sides of the door and safely step onto the curb or street
Lost and Found:

If you lost something on the do not worry. The local transit system will hold you belonging in the lost and found for a minimum of 14 days. You may find the number for the lost and found service on the B.C. Transit website

Plan to arrive at the bus stop a few minutes early

Have your correct fare ready before boarding the bus

Take a seat as soon as possible after boarding the bus

Hold on while the bus is in motion

Keep your head, hands and arms inside of the bus

Remind your driver before you leave the bus if you have to remove your bike from the bike rack

Be a good neighbour -yelling or loud music on the bus can be distracting for the driver and other passengers

Hold on to your children, strollers, parcels, luggage and sports equipment

Assist your children on and off the bus

Stand in the street or sit on the curb when the buses approach

Run after or hit the side of a moving bus

Stand or sit in any of the bus stairwells

Allow your children to stand or kneel on the seat while riding the bus

Enter the street in front of or directly behind a stopped bus--make sure traffic can see you

Use offensive or abusive language on the bus

Pets on board:

Assistance animals (guide dogs not therapy) that are certified may be allowed on the bus at all times

Small-fur bearing or feathered pets contained in a clean, hand-held cage are permitted on the bus

Cages must be small enough to fit in owner's lap, it may be put on the ground if there is enough room

Please do not brings dogs abroad if they are:

Hang onto parcels during the bus ride and do not bring combustible materials such as propane tanks, gasoline containers, or wet cell batteries
Strollers:

Must be collapsible, cannot exceed 2 feet by 4 feet

Must be kept clear of aisles

Position stroller into an unoccupied wheelchair location with the brakes set in position.

If that is not available fold stroller and move to another seat and keep stroller secure between the seats

Hang onto stroller at all times

Driving

If you are a new B.C. resident, you may use a valid driver’s license from another country/province for 90 days, although you are required to apply for a new B.C. license within those 90 days
-
If you are a visitor, you can drive in B.C. for six months with a valid driver’s license from another country/province
-
If you have a driver’s license from another country (See ICBC for those certain countries) or province you do not need to take the knowledge test and are able to apply for a B.C. license
-
If you are not from one of those countries you are required to take a knowledge test (testing your knowledge about the road) and a road test (ability to drive)
